Job Summary: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for operating and having a general working knowledge of all equipment in their assigned facility. The incumbent repairs and maintains, in accordance with the diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and manufacturer’s specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools and precision-measuring and testing instruments. Must be service minded and capable of maintaining an excellent working relationship with production, quality, and safety personnel.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
· Correctly and efficiently uses the CMMS system as needed without assistance to maintain all repair and PM records.
· Proficiently repairs, replaces, and maintains Pumps, Motors, Belts, Fans, and water and steam lines, including rebuilding (gap, mechanical seal, etc.).
· Performs conveyor maintenance and repair, properly replacing bearings, chains and sprockets without assistance.
- Disassemble and reassemble machines to access and remove defective parts using hoists and hand and power tools. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Install special functional and structural parts in devices as needed. Able to reassemble machinery with or without assistance.
· Maintains an awareness of equipment operation, especially excessive heat, vibration, and noise, reporting malfunctions, hazards or wear to supervisor.
· Able to learn and properly perform Preventive Maintenance (PM) on each line when required.
· Performs basic machinist duties.
· Can correctly, safely and thoroughly start and stop all lines.
· Successfully performs all routine tasks and applies skills and experience to solve non-routine mechanical and process issues.
· Understands pneumatic systems.
· Competently uses and understands technical documents, including but not limited to: Maintenance Manuals, Schematics, Procedures, Repair Documents, etc.
· Assists production with equipment set-ups and changeovers as required.
· Assists higher level Technicians with troubleshooting and repair.
· Proficiently lubricates and cleans parts. Start devices to test their performance.
· Accurately completes requisition forms as needed to order parts to keep the Production Lines in good general repair and to meet the GMP standards. Required to maintain logs and records as instructed.
· Maintains a neat and orderly work station / Shop Area as needed.
· Demonstrates a commitment to safe work practices and adheres to personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines.
· Other duties, as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Regular and reliable attendance required.
· Ability to work a flexible schedule.
· Willing to work occasional overtime, including weekends, as required.
· Must be willing to work outside in all weather conditions.
· Ability to communicate well within multiple teammate levels, from general labor to management.
· Mechanical or Electrical education or formal training required; 1 years maintenance experience in an Industrial Maintenance role or 2-3 years’ experience in a comparable role required in lieu of education.
· Previous experience, aptitude and/or willingness for hands-on mechanical troubleshooting.
· A basic understanding of Lean Principles is preferred, but not required.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment where priorities change quickly.
· Willing to work as part of a team.
· Takes the initiative and pro-actively seeks to resolve issues independently when discovered.
· Engages fully in resolving issues with equipment and improving line efficiencies.
Working Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a teammate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The Maintenance Technician is required to work both in an office environment and on the production floor. While performing the duties of this job, the teammate frequently will be exposed to outside weather conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme heat and/or cold. The teammate frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in high precarious places and has to the risk of exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electrical shock. The incumbent will be exposed to loud noises from production equipment and thus will be required to wear PPE. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but may be high at times due to production and mechanical equipment noise.
Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the teammate is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel objects, equipment, or controls; reach with hands and arms; see, talk and /or hear. The teammate frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, sit, crouch, or crawl. The teammate will frequently travel up and down stairs and other uneven work surfaces. The teammate is occasionally required to taste, touch or smell.
Teammates must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull, and balance up to 100 pounds.
