JOB OPENING: Utilities Intern (Summer)
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR: We are looking for a highly self-motivated person who is pro-active, detail oriented, and can stay on schedule. This person must have the ability to multi-task and actively manage multiple priorities.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with all stakeholders to improve safety, quality, and efficiency of operations.
- Supports manufacturing issues and cost improvement projects as assigned.
- Analyzes technical malfunctions, makes suggestions for improvement, tests and implements the necessary improvements, including hands-on troubleshooting.
- Focuses on continuous improvement opportunities within the plant.
- Participates in the Root Cause Analysis of quality problems to determine cause and solutions, coordinates with the maintenance and production departments to implement solutions.
- Develop documentation such as SOP’s, OPL’s, and Maintenance Programs for existing and incoming equipment and processes.
- Help creates Project Plans and coordinates resources to ensure the project scope, schedule, and budget are met.
- Provides daily technical expertise to the department.
- Work to understand the operation of equipment and the systems serving them to help analyze efficiency opportunities. i.e., chilled water systems, steam system, etc.
- All other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Full-time student enrolled in a two or four-year college or university with a major in engineering, mechatronics or applicable technical field.
Strong communicator (oral and written) with strategic, analytical and creative thinking skills, and demonstrated leadership initiative.
- Must have ability to prioritize projects based on potential impact and to organize assignments and tasks in a logical and productive manner.
- Computer skills required include Microsoft Office – Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to withstand periods of walking, standing, exposure to loud noises, and moving mechanical parts.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. full-time and without restriction during the internship.
