The Nissan Service Manager is responsible for running an efficient and profitable service department. The Service Manager operates the department at maximum production, controls costs, builds and maintains a loyal customer base, maintains good employee relationships and maintains accurate records.
Essential Responsibilities:
Management
- Manage the department to meet departmental goals and objectives.
- Evaluate performance through operational objectives and financial goals.
- Manage payroll records of the department ensuring productivity of techs and shop.
- Maintain all reporting systems in compliance with federal, state and dealership regulations.
- Ensure that job descriptions are reviewed annually and kept up to date.
- Submit weekly open repair order reports to Service Director and Parts and Service Director.
Relationship Management
- Evaluate and follow-up on customer experience ensuring a positive resolution of customer problems and complaints.
- Maintain a strong relationship with vendors and franchise representatives.
Operational Management
- Prioritize service of vehicles to maximize efficiency of shop.
- Examine issues such as 'come-backs' and develop methods and train technicians to avoid them in the future.
- Review completed orders to ensure accuracy and manage turn-around time.
- Assure repair order workflow to satisfy warranty/dealership/business office requirements.
- Promote sales of labor, parts and accessories to meet customer needs.
Training Management
- Manage and maintain training of employees to ensure that technicians stay abreast of new technology and regulations.
- Hire, train, motivate, counsel technicians ensuring that they meet standards of the position and to ensure a positive team environment.
- Conduct shop meetings periodically.
Facilities Management
- Maintain equipment owned by company and ensure that all technicians have the appropriate equipment to perform work.
- Stay up-to-date on new equipment and tools and recommend purchases as appropriate.
- Maintain housekeeping records and organization of personal areas of shop.
- Organize and maintain the proper use of service department's parking areas.
Other Duties
- Comply with red flag and confidentiality policies.
- Comply with safety policies and procedures outlined in the Bowser Employee Handbook.
Education and Qualifications:
- Excellent customer service skills
- Drivers license in good standing
- Knowledge of automotive maintenance and service
- Experience with Nissan is preferred but not required
- Strong leadership/management experience
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting/standing/walking no less than 8 hours/work day
- Ability to lift no more than 50 lbs at a time
