Position Overview
On the job training will be provided for this entry-level position! This position will perform routine and non-routine construction materials and geotechnical laboratory test procedures in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO and other recognized test methodologies. Work may include the testing of asphalt and bituminous mixtures, aggregate, soils, cement and concrete.
Key Responsibilities
- Ability to track and organize assigned work.
- Ability to initiate testing layout and distribution.
- Ability to perform sample preparation and testing proficiently.
- Performing index property testing of mineral aggregates for quality and comparison to industry specifications.
- Preparation of aggregate samples for chemical analysis.
- Other duties as directed by the CMT Laboratory Manager and/or Assistant Laboratory Manager.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED
• • Clean driving record with no more than two driving violations in the last 36 months
Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meeting deadlines
- Basic math and computer skills required
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Physical Requirements
Physical Ability
- Stand, walk, push, pull, twist, reach overhead, bending, crawling, climbing; lift minimum of 80 pounds
Visual Ability
- Visual accommodation necessary for reading instructions/materials necessary to perform functions of job
Hearing Ability
- Ability to monitor sounds for changes in machine function
