Position Overview
The Geologist Level 1 is responsible for aggregate related testing with focus on visual deleterious examination, flat & elongated particles, and fractured particle determination. Description/logging of rock core & geological consulting services for the mining industry are also included in the scope of this position.
Key Responsibilities
• Project management with an emphasis on aggregate related projects including USACE, FAA, DOT, etc.
• Familiarity with ASTM, AASHTO, and DOT test methodologies related to aggregates
• Project initiation and coordination with customers
• Writing laboratory reports
• Familiarity of the company’s QA-020 quality management system (QMS) requirements and documentation and implement the QMS policies and procedures
• Other duties as directed by the CMT Laboratory Manager
Education and Experience
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Geology with strong course work in mineralogy & petrology
• 5 years of engineering or scientific experience related to aggregate testing
• Knowledge of technical matters including testing methods and test equipment, computer skills and technical writing skills.

• Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to modify personal schedule as required to meet deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Physical Ability
