Material Handler (3rd Shift)

This individual is responsible for all activities associated with unloading/staging raw material and returns in a timely manner.

Duties and Responsibilities (essential functions)

• Ensure that raw materials and returns are staged in the appropriate location
• Ensure that returns are sent back to the vendor within 24 hours
• Safely operate forklift in a congested and fast paced environment
• Maintain a safe speed and load on the lift
• Load, unload, and move materials as needed to assist production
• Maintain forklift and perform daily inspections
• Minimize damage to equipment and corrugated sheets
• Manage time and workload effectively in order to eliminate machine downtime
• Organize materials in safely stacked, neat rows in order to minimize loss and lost time looking for materials
• Read schedule and/or follow oral instructions to determine materials to be moved
• Report safety, quality, and equipment issues to supervisor
• Ensure good housekeeping on the production floor by emptying trash, strapping and corrugated waste containers
• Maintain positive and productive communications with all relationships
• Must follow all company policies and procedures
• Must be trained on Box-Board Products, Inc. Employee Practices for AIB Compliance (a.k.a. Good Manufacturing Practices or G.M.P.s); must follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.s)
• Additional duties as assigned by supervisor

Tools and Machines Used

• Forklift, tape measure, utility knife, hand tools, air hose, computer, PPE

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be able to operate a forklift; at least 2 years experience is preferred
• Must complete BBP forklift certification course and maintain forklift license
• Must be able to read and understand English instructions; written and verbal
• Must be able to communicate with supervisor and coworkers

Physical Demands

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklift traffic. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and/or vibration. The noise level is the work environment is usually loud.
