General Overview
Are you ready to elevate your career in anesthesia? As a Staff Anesthetist, you'll play a crucial role in the success of our department. From attending management meetings to contributing to budgeting and equipment acquisition, your expertise will help shape our anesthesia services. You will administer a variety of anesthesia techniques—from general and regional to monitored anesthesia care—while providing compassionate care to patients ranging from newborns to adults.
Key Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Create, communicate, and evaluate anesthesia policies and procedures while participating in departmental goal-setting and budgeting.
- Peri-Anesthesia Care: Deliver exceptional peri-anesthesia care, assist in establishing IV access, and respond to emergency situations, including Code Blue calls.
- Obstetric Anesthesia: Provide anesthesia care for obstetric patients and be on standby during deliveries as requested.
- Patient Assessments: Conduct thorough pre- and post-anesthesia assessments to ensure patient safety and comfort.
- Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all anesthesia equipment is functioning safely and effectively.
- Supervision: Supervise and assist in the post-anesthesia care unit, ensuring high standards of care.
- Continuous Improvement: Engage in performance improvement initiatives and serve on committees as assigned.
- Maintain professional credentials and pursue continuing education in line with Medical Staff Bylaws.
- Educate patients, their families, and staff as needed.
- Undertake other related duties as assigned.
- Education:
- Required: Completion of a State of Nebraska-approved Nurse Anesthesia program.
- Preferred: Master’s Degree in Nurse Anesthesia or a related field.
- Experience:
- Required: Minimum of two years of current nurse anesthetist experience with competence in general and regional anesthesia.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Required:
- Current Nebraska RN License,
- Nebraska APRN-CRNA certificate,
- Membership in AANA with current national recertification,
- Certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, and NRP.
- Valid Driver's License: Yes.
- Personal Skills: Strong communication and collaboration abilities with coworkers, medical staff, patients, and families.
- Upon hire, provide a copy of your Immunization Record and disclose your current influenza immunization.
