GENERAL PURPOSE
The Fairgrounds Operations Coordinator will assist in the planning and organizing of operational functions of the Fairgrounds; performs a variety of duties in coordinating Fairgrounds activities and events including assisting in preparation of events; oversees preparation of building, grounds, and coordination of logistical needs for fair events, exhibits and vendors.

Under the general guidance and direction of the Fairgrounds Director and Fairgrounds Operations Team Leader performs a variety of duties in coordinating Fairground activities and events working with the public to utilize fairgrounds for the best interest of Box Elder County and citizens.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
- Plans, organizes, and implements operational functions of the Fairgrounds including minor maintenance of buildings and facilities.
- Ensures safety programs are adequate and implemented.
- Maintains facility information via computer.
- Oversees and coordinates the work of volunteers and vendor activities during the fair and other events.
- Is responsible to make recommendations to Fairgrounds Director to develop and implement policies, rules, regulations which govern usage of fairgrounds and events.
- Actively promotes use of the Fairgrounds facilities and provides interested parties with all pertinent information regarding fees and rules/regulations governing the use of Fairgrounds facilities.
- Coordinates with Box Elder County Fairgrounds schedule and other exhibitions and events throughout the year working closely with the Fairgrounds Director to accommodate the needs of citizen groups, the Fair Board and volunteers. Coordinates the use of grounds areas, grandstand, arenas, stall rentals, and other facility use with facility scheduling;
- Develops and promotes working relationships with various groups included but not limited to, high school rodeo club, 4-H clubs, FFA, rodeo organizations, and dance groups, Box Elder County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, Horse and Livestock organizations and the Fair Board.
- Assists in preparation for and execution of annual county fair.
- Provides and coordinates specialized labor and/or equipment when necessary.
- Develops and follows program to maximize use of facilities. Works with Fairgrounds Director to oversee the preparation of facilities for special events (rodeo queen contests, rodeos, concerts, truck pulls, various livestock events, etc.) including set-up, take-down/clean-up, and rapid reset for back-to-back events. Must be familiar with and know how to operate county equipment and miscellaneous implements in maintaining and preparing grounds.
- Enforces rules and regulations to ensure a safe, pleasant environment for patrons.
- Coordinates and assists in the preparation of arenas, race tracks and buildings for various events and this includes helping facility patrons.
- Coordinates and assists in minor maintenance, safety and professional appearance of the facility which includes picking up garbage, cleaning horse stalls after use and laying new sawdust in stalls, cleaning fence lines and fairgrounds of litter. Assists in all phases of general maintenance and cleaning at fairgrounds, including restrooms; assists in landscaping operations related to planting and grooming of lawns, planting beds, trees, shrubbery; participates in the application of fertilizers and pesticides; operates ATV with mounted spraying equipment to perform weed control spraying.
