We're seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive the design, analysis, and optimization of the mechanical components and sub-assemblies that make up our automated material handling solutions.
\n- Contribute to the mechanical design of Boxbot's automated storage and retrieval systems, including structural frames, motion control mechanisms, and material handling components
- Perform detailed 3D CAD modeling, engineering analysis, and design validation using advanced simulation tools
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, controls, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration
- Develop and maintain mechanical design standards, guidelines, and best practices
- Participate in the product development lifecycle, contributing to the conceptualization, prototyping, and testing of new mechanical systems
- Identify opportunities for design improvements to enhance the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of our products
- Support the transition of designs from development to production
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical issues that arise during deployment and field service activities
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field
- 8 years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the industrial automation, robotics, or material handling industries
- Proficient in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA) and engineering analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD, motion simulation)
- Strong background in mechanical system design, including mechanisms, structures, and motion control components
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and design for manufacturability principles
- Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to present design concepts and technical information
