DESCRIPTION:
Provides technical assistance and support to all departments and branches on Caterpillar & Allied products including service literature and product systems to help control warranty and redo expense and maintain customer satisfaction.
Compensation: $0-1; negotiable
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma or Equivalent
- Technical knowledge of Caterpillar and Allied equipment normally obtained through a minimum of 5 years’ experience performing various types of repair procedures on the equipment preferred
- Ability to use the computer and direct others in computer usage and analysis of information
- Demonstrated ability with strong verbal, written and administrative inter-personal skills with computers and diagnostic tooling
- Ability to interpret electric, hydraulic and other types of schematics and blueprints
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinate technical issues and provide technical information by acting as liaison between manufacturers/suppliers, Company service personnel and customers to support customer service events, jobsite startups and services of rental fleet products and by obtaining technical information
- Obtain technical information to provide branch personnel and customers assistance to repair equipment. Act as a liaison between Boyd personnel and factory contacts and branches
- Travel to branches and customer jobsites when assistance is required to complete a repair procedure This will include taking special diagnostic tools to enable us to perform diagnostic procedures beyond the capabilities of branch personnel
- Maintain the corporate technical library and provide assistance to branches on literature needs
- Provide documented information to Service Development Manager.
- Provide assistance to branch personnel in equipment repairs within 12 hours after dispatched by supervisor and compile a listing of these situations to keep track of repeat problems and to use as a reference for product problem research
- In extreme troubleshooting situations, involve Caterpillar personnel and, if necessary, travel to jobsite with Caterpillar personnel to solve problems
- Provide a monthly listing of possible product problems to Service Development Manager
- Answer questions on PIP program from branch personnel and are available to assist to ensure PIP’s are completed in a timely manner
- Provide parts and tooling recommendations for new products
- Perform other duties as necessary and assigned
