Boyd Jones is seeking a Project Engineer in the renewables division, to assist in the development of renewable energy projects. Typical projects are 3MW-10MW projects, with project budgets of $2M or more.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Planning and Design:
- Support the development of renewable energy projects, including feasibility studies, site assessments, and conceptual designs.
- Assist in preparing detailed engineering designs, technical specifications, and equipment layouts.
- Work closely with project development teams to evaluate technical and financial feasibility.
- Project Management and Execution:
- Oversee engineering deliverables, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including construction, procurement, and permitting.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress, troubleshoot technical challenges, and ensure safety compliance.
- Technical Expertise and Problem-Solving:
- Review and validate technical documentation, including schematics, drawings, and system calculations.
- Provide technical support during procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Identify opportunities for system optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Collaborate with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Communicate technical concepts and project updates to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support project bids and proposals by contributing technical input and cost estimates.
- Compliance and Sustainability:
- Ensure all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
- Promote sustainable design practices and innovative renewable energy solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related field).
- 3-5 years of experience in renewable energy or related industries.
- Strong knowledge of solar, wind, and/or energy storage systems and their integration.
- Proficiency in engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst, ETAP).
- Familiarity with industry standards and codes (e.g., NEC, IEEE, ASCE).
- Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering (PE) license or EIT certification.
- Experience in utility-scale renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of permitting and interconnection processes.
- Understanding of energy modeling, grid integration, and battery storage technologies.
Working Conditions:
- Normally works in a general office environment with the use of computer, printer, telephone, copier, fax, and calculator. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
