Position Overview
The Safety Manager champions and promotes safety awareness while monitoring safety related functions, including the satisfactory completion of risk assessments and audits. The Safety Manager also facilitates improved health and safety conditions in the workplace by providing guidance to fellow Managers, Supervisors and Safety Designees, focusing on reducing the frequency and severity of workplace injuries, illness, disease and compliance with all federal, state, and local health and safety legislation, regulations, codes, and standards.
Position Purpose
The Safety Manager helps improve the overall safety of the plant. Their duties include accessing progressive training for promotions, annual reviews, new hires, and temporary associates.
Job Functions
- Training: developing and presenting safety training sessions for employees as needed and required
- Safety Planning: creating and maintaining safety protocols and programs.
- Record Keeping: Maintaining records and reporting on safety and training activities.
- Policy Development: developing or modifying procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Consistent check-ins with employees during progressive training
- Weekly report out in management morning meetings
- Lead Plant wide training.
- Forklift and Boom Lift – Train the Trainer
- New Hire Orientation: Safety Portion
- Online Safety program maintenance – Learning Management System
- Review, create, and evolve materials to develop processes.
- Annually review training processes and procedures with Department Managers
Job Specifications
- Mechanical, communication, computer literate.
- Previous manufacturing experience preferred but not required.
- Skills - Able to use Microsoft Office systems is a plus.
- Abilities- Good attendance, guide teams and processes, and ability to work alone.
