What are the responsibilities and job description for the Marketing & In-Game Promotions position at Boyd Sports?
DESCRIPTION:
The Marketing and In-Game internship is a seasonal, full-time internship that will serve to aid the efforts of Community Relations and Promotions. The individual must be versatile, friendly, positive, motivated, and excited to represent the Elizabethton River Riders in the community and at the ballpark. This person must be willing to help within other departments when necessary and is not afraid to speak/perform in front of clients, sponsors, and crowds, and most of all have FUN!
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work closely with the General Manager for the 2025 marketing needs such as social media accounts, website and newspaper graphics
- Continuously work to build the Elizabethton River Riders brand and reputation in the community through marketing strategies, relations building, speaking engagements, chamber and community events, appearances, etc.
- Be engaged in numerous community events
- Help/Attend mascots for community and promotion appearances • Work with the General Manager for player community appearances
- Attend all community events for the Elizabethton River Riders
- Manage all donation requests
- Work closely with the General Manager as the 2025 on-field host, find and direct participants for games, direct the mascot and fan assistance for the First Pitch and National Anthem.
- Make sure all promotional materials and props for contests and games are in place and ready to go for game time, including all prizes from sponsors
- Create game day scripts and distribute to the Mascot and Press Box
- Help organize and be a part of planning for giveaways, scheduling National Anthem Singer, organizing theme nights, and working closely ticket sales, and corporate sales to execute theme nights
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree and experience working in sports or non-profit sector preferred but not required. Experience as mascot, working with donations, charitable causes, promotions, and Street Teams a plus. Must display excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Creativity, thinking outside the box and craftiness are a must. Ability to juggle multiple projects at once. Quick learner with the ability to work well under pressure/tight deadlines. Reliable, punctual, and courteous to colleagues, event staff, sponsors, and fans. Most importantly, candidates should be motivated, driven, organized, and friendly. Must have willingness to work long hours, weekends, and holidays plus non-River Riders events at the ballpark.
