Job Title & Description:
The Assurance Quality Management Specialist role will be in injunction with an audit position which will be determined based on the skill sets and experience of individuals. This position overview is intended to supplement the existing job descriptions for those roles.
Position Purpose:
The Assurance Quality Management Specialist will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring that all assurance work conducted by Boyer & Ritter LLC (the “Firm”) adheres to professional standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. The Assurance Quality Management Specialist supports the Firm’s goals and values through all professional communications and maintaining positive working relationships. The audit role will be responsible for managing multiple projects and client engagements simultaneously, and scheduling, staffing, and coordinating engagement work flow. The Manager supports the Firm’s goals and values through all professional communications and the maintenance of positive working relationships.
Assurance Quality Management Responsibilities:
- Supports the implementation and maintenance of the Firm’s Quality Management System
- Coordinates and performs Engagement Quality Control Reviews (“EQR”)
- Assists in the oversight of the internal inspection and peer review process
- Performs reviews of clients’ financial statements

Supports the technical assurance services of the firm including:
- Technical Accounting & Assurance (A&A) research
- Reviews and oversees assurance methodologies
- Professional standards, including ethics and independence matters
- Supports the implementation of accounting and assurance standards throughout the Firm
- Supports technical training needs
- Reviews all Firm templates such as engagement letters, financial statements, representation letters, proforma financial statements, etc.
- Continue to develop and execute personal marketing plan/program and develop an awareness of Firm marketing strategies
- Participate in Firm marketing efforts to generate new client revenue and expand revenue from existing clients
- Participate in Firm related functions and events
- Serves on Firm A&A and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Committees
- Serves on the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs (PICPA) A&A Committee & BDO Alliance round tables, etc. to enhance utilization of available resources
- Attends Firm industry practice group meetings as necessary to provide leadership in assurance matters
Audit Responsibilities:
- Perform higher level engagements and expand ability to perform or supervise new types of engagements, and multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Responsible for all phases of an engagement. Plans, supervises, review and controls engagements of all sizes and complexities for compliance with all professional and firm standards, including budgeting and job realization.
- Plan, schedule and staff engagements using firm policies and procedures.
- Perform more difficult or complex accounting and tax procedures: understands complex accounting/auditing/tax matters and their application to client situations.
- Maintain contact with clients throughout the year and communicate progress of engagements, problems, and resolutions to client.
- Possess a thorough knowledge of the client and all facets of client’s business: proactively identifying client needs and providing valuable ideas on an ongoing basis.
- Manage staff, including their career development, training and professional development, productivity and performance.
- Present financial reports to clients at wrap-up meetings and board presentations.
- Keep partner informed of all important developments on engagement; analyze problems and recommend solutions.
Other Responsibilities:
The Assurance Quality Management Specialist is expected to have a working knowledge of requisite software and internal workflow/procedures and must be familiar with IRS Circular 230 Regulations Governing the Practice of Attorneys, Certified Public Accountants, Actuaries and Enrolled Agents Before the IRS and the AICPA Professional Code of Conduct. The Assurance Quality Management Specialist may also be required to participate in various internal and external speaking engagements, article writing, newspaper quotations and seminar presentations, participate in staff performance evaluations, and other duties as may be assigned. Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or other appropriate area of study plus job experience.
Certification: A Certified Public Accountant license or appropriate professional designation is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of (7) years professional experience, technically proficient, demonstrating a progression in complexity, scope and number of engagements managed, with extensive supervisory skills and marketing experience. Working knowledge of basic office technology (Microsoft Excel and Word), accounting and tax software programs.
