Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Summary: The Medical Assistant will assist healthcare professionals with clinical and administrative tasks, contributing to the smooth and efficient operation of a medical office, clinic, or healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented with a strong understanding of healthcare practices.
Key Responsibilities:Clinical Duties:
- Patient Care: Take and record patient histories, vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature), and other basic health information.
- Assist in Examinations: Help physicians during patient exams by preparing instruments, ensuring patients are comfortable, and handling any necessary paperwork.
- Lab Work: Collect specimens (blood, urine, etc.) and send them to labs for testing. Some MAs may also perform basic lab tests.
- Administer Medications/Immunizations: Give patients prescribed medications or vaccines, as directed by a physician.
- Prepare and Sterilize Equipment: Ensure medical equipment is clean, sterilized, and properly set up before procedures.
- Electrocardiograms (ECG/EKG): Assist with performing and interpreting basic ECGs.
- Patient Education: Provide patients with instructions regarding their medications, procedures, or treatment plans.
Administrative Duties:
- Scheduling Appointments: Manage patient appointments and coordinate follow-up visits.
- Medical Records: Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA).
- Insurance Verification: Verify patient insurance details and assist with billing processes.
- Billing & Coding: Help with medical billing and coding for insurance claims.
- Inventory Management: Order and maintain medical supplies, ensuring the clinic is well-stocked.
- Patient Communication: Answer patient inquiries, provide information, and relay messages to medical staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Certification: CMA (Certified Medical Assistant), RMA (Registered Medical Assistant), or equivalent certification preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a healthcare setting is a plus.
- Skills: Strong communication skills, attention to detail, knowledge of medical terminology, ability to multitask, and proficiency in office software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand, walk, and assist with lifting or positioning patients when needed.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
