Overview
Big Sky Resort is seeking a skilled IT Director to oversee all IT operations across the resort, ensuring seamless support for business needs and maintaining peak efficiency of our IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Lead the local resort IT team, assigning and prioritizing local projects as needed, supporting help desk operations, mentoring IT team members, and working hands on to ensure smooth operation within the department. Manage local service providers. Operate IT within a budget. Work closely with the Boyne Corporate IT team to comply with established IT standards and best practices.
The ideal candidate has the following skillsets:
- Proven leadership and team building experience
- Recruit and maintain qualified IT Technician staffing levels to support resort operations
- Excellent verbal and written communication ability
- Organized and self-motivated
- Displays good judgement in decision making
- Dependable and trustworthy
- Completes tasks on time and follows best practices and procedures
- Project management
- IT staff scheduling to provide support coverage for resort operations
- Vendor & service provider relationship management
- Capital & operating expense budget management
- Microsoft Windows workstation and server setup, repair, and upgrades
- Installing, configuring, and using Microsoft Windows and Office applications
- Basic VMWare administration
- Basic Cisco managed network administration
- Basic Avaya PBX administration
- Installing or replacing network and voice cabling
- Installing or replacing network devices such as switches, printers, phones, etc.
- Utilizes logic and deductive reasoning to diagnose and solve complex problems
Qualifications
EXPERIENCEAny combination of education and training equivalent to 5 years’ experience in Information Technology that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described. The desire for life-long learning is a must.
LANGUAGE SKILLSAbility to read and interpret documents and manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before groups or team members of the organization. Contact with the public, guests, and team members required. Guest service is a key element of the job and adherence to Boyne’s service values is mandatory.
REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, verbal, or diagram form. Problem-solving abilities and logical thinking are essential qualities of a team member in this position. Ability to clearly document business processes in an easily understood format.

WORK ENVIRONMENTShared office setting at Big Sky Resort. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Some heavy equipment may need to be moved or installed, therefore lifting up to 50lbs is important. Some travel may be required from time to time. During peak season it may be required to work weekend days and/or be on call for after-hours emergency support. May be assigned other tasks/responsibilities as needed.
