Overview

To patrol mountain areas for injured, reckless, lost downhill mountain bikers, and for biking hazards. Provide first aid and other necessary assistance to mountain bikers and hikers or other Loon guests. Enforce company mountain bike safety regulations. Complete ongoing training and emergency procedures practice. Perform various trail maintenance tasks. As a customer focused organization, a crucial part of each employee’s job is to get and keep guests.


Responsibilities

Supervise and promote guest safety on varied terrain with a variety of seasonal weather conditions.

Maintain a courteous attitude while dealing with any and all resort customers and employees.

On call for emergency calls. Assist with First Aid Room duties.

Patrol assigned mountain areas regularly to ensure that all trails are properly marked, to identify injured, lost, out of control and reckless riders. Identify existing or potential mountain bike hazards and to monitor and report on weather/riding conditions, mountain bike traffic.

Stop reckless mountain bikers and enforce company biking safety regulations, including taking of appropriate disciplinary action. Assist with educational efforts related to safe mountain biking.

Perform a variety of trail maintenance tasks, check trails for hazards, missing signs, put up signs and mark hazards, cut brush, clear trails, put up fences and close trails when necessary.

Perform trail opening and closing procedures as assigned.

Search for missing persons and equipment.

Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to ride and downhill mountain bike at an advanced or above skill level, capable of handling all types of terrain in all weather conditions. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include depth perception.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

A current membership of National Ski Patrol.

A current Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) certification preferred, or posses a current state Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.

A current Health Care Provider C.P.R. Certification, Resort Certified in Blood Borne Pathogens training program, Hepatitis B Vaccination. Resort Certification for any used equipment.
