Overview

 

We are seeking an experienced Senior Lift Maintenance Mechanic with advanced electrical expertise to join our mountain operations team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing aerial lifts, including fixed-grip and detachable lift systems, with a particular focus on electrical systems and controls.

Responsibilities

The Senior Lift Maintenance Mechanic's typical job functions include:

 

Operational

  • Lead complex maintenance and repair operations on all aerial lift systems, including electrical controls, drive systems, and safety circuits
  • Perform detailed inspections and testing of lift electrical systems, including DC drive systems, PLC controls, and safety circuits
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs and maintain detailed documentation of all work performed
  • Diagnose and repair sophisticated electronic control systems, variable frequency drives, and automated components
  • Respond to emergency situations and perform repairs under adverse weather conditions
  • Train and mentor junior mechanics in electrical troubleshooting and maintenance procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all ANSI B77.1 standards and applicable safety regulations
  • Collaborate with lift manufacturers and outside contractors on major repairs and upgrades
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory
  • Participate in pre-season and post-season maintenance programs
  • Understand system energy consumption and work to reduce costs without compromising quality to increase sustainability
  • Provide superior service to all customers (internal and external).

Qualifications

This position may be for you if:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining and repairing aerial lifts in a ski resort environment
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, including AC/DC motors, variable frequency drives, and PLC programming
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting complex electrical and mechanical systems
  • Valid electrical certification or relevant technical degree
  • Experience with different lift manufacturers (Doppelmayr, Poma, etc.) and their control systems
  • Strong understanding of ANSI B77.1 standards and safety regulations
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
  • Valid driver's license and ability to operate snowmobiles and snow equipment
  • Physical ability to work at heights and in challenging weather conditions
  • Excellent problem-solving and documentation skills
