For over 100 years, the Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich (BGCG) has provided a safe, nurturing environment where Greenwich youth can learn, grow, and thrive. BGCG's mission is to "prepare young people, through enrichment opportunities and supportive relationships, to be responsible, caring, and productive community members." Serving over 350 kids daily through after-school programs focused on academic enrichment, healthy lifestyles, and character development, BGCG operates year-round at its downtown facility and Camp Simmons during the summer.
BGCG seeks a dynamic and experienced Aquatics Director to lead its aquatics programming, including swim lessons, the Barracudas swim team, pool rentals, and recreational activities. Reporting to the Vice President of Youth Development, the Aquatics Director will supervise lifeguards and aquatics staff, manage facility operations, and contribute to the organization's mission of developing character and leadership in youth. This individual will also serve as a site supervisor and camp director during the summer. Position Summary
The Aquatics Director oversees the daily operations of BGCG's state-of-the-art aquatics facilities and programs, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, mission-driven services. This position involves managing lifeguards, instructors, and staff, overseeing competitive and recreational swim programs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and driving program growth and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities
Program Development & Member Experience
Plan, implement, and evaluate innovative aquatics programs aligned with BGCG's mission.
Drive enrollment and retention for swim lessons, competitive teams, and other aquatic offerings.
Develop and schedule a variety of programs for all age groups, including lap swims, water aerobics, synchronized swimming, and more.
Foster a welcoming and safe environment for members and families, addressing concerns promptly and professionally.
Increase community engagement and visibility of BGCG's aquatics facilities to enhance program participation and revenue.
Team Leadership
Recruit, train, and manage a team of lifeguards, instructors, and part-time aquatics staff.
Oversee staff certifications, including CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard/Swim Instructor credentials.
Motivate staff to deliver exceptional service and meet program goals.
Provide ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities for team members.
Fiscal Management & Safety Compliance
Develop and manage the annual aquatics budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial objectives.
Maintain compliance with BGCG safety standards, local regulations, and best practices.
Implement regular safety checks, emergency drills, and in-service training.
Manage risk proactively, ensuring a safe environment for all participants and staff.
Facility Operations
Oversee the maintenance of aquatics facilities, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and compliance with health regulations.
Manage pool operations, including water quality testing, pump room maintenance, and chemical use.
Enforce locker room policies with a focus on member safety and security.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of six (6) years of leadership experience in aquatics and pool management, with a strong background in competitive swim programs.
Demonstrated success in program growth, staff management, and budget oversight.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with Meet Manager is a plus.
Certifications required:
o American Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED, Lifeguard/Swim Instructor.
o Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred or attainable within three months of hire.
Exceptional communication, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people and foster an inclusive environment.
Physical & Additional Requirements
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to remain active on your feet or in the water for extended periods.
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Successful completion of a criminal background check.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience. Range: $80,000 - $95,000
