Description
GENERAL FUNCTION : Under the direct supervision of the CELA-S Site Supervisor, the Teachers' Assistant is responsible for implementing the daily activities and ensuring the safety and health of the students.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
First Aid Safety & CPR certification (training options available)
Demonstrate programming skills and the ability to develop lesson plans for our early childhood program.
Demonstrate the ability to set and meet goals.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with 2&fac12;-5-year-olds and encourage their participation in all activities.
Respond well to constructive criticism.
Maintain a positive personality and professional attitude that enables a smooth relationship with parents, staff, and children.
GENERAL JOB SEGMENTS
Provide proper guidance and instruction to our little ones.
Be responsible for the implementation of Boys and Girls Club discipline policies and guidelines.
Follow the club personnel policies and practices.
Be a suitable role model for students.
Be responsible for the daily classroom happenings and any issues which may occur when the director is not available.
Utilize the early childhood department system of record keeping, reporting, recording, and handling of all monies received.
Establish a program setting that ensures the health and safety of its members by following the scheduled safety checks to identify potential and existing hazards. Keep the Director informed of all program needs.
Keep the classroom, office, closets, and bathroom neat and orderly.
Decorate the hall and classroom with children's projects / photos.
SPECIFIC JOB SEGMENTS
Take attendance daily. Know how many children are in the room / outside at all times.
Review and familiarize yourself with each child's application and family. Be aware of all authorized pick-ups.
Responsible for clocking in and out daily
Responsible for adhering to proper opening and closing procedures
Prepare and administer snack and lunch.
Be fair and consistent in dealing with children, never label or show favoritism towards any child.
Use positive discipline when dealing with children.
Conduct periodic fire drills (at least one per month) and record them on the chart. Follow proper protocol.
Supervise parent sign-in / sign-out sheet (signature and time).
Become familiar with parents and address any concerns.
Responsible for weekly program lesson plans and staff meetings
Attend workshops / conferences as required by the state office of licensing.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Director and / or Administration.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1 : First Aid, Safety and CPR certification required
2 : Demonstrate the ability to plan and implement age appropriate group activities, BGCA National Programs, and exhibit classroom management competencies.
3 : Demonstrate the ability to set and meet goals
4 : Demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate with staff, parents and young people
5 : Demonstrate the ability to perform basic administrative duties
