What are the responsibilities and job description for the After-School Counselor position at Boys and Girls Clubs of Central AL?
- You will be in charge of a group of children that can range in age from 12-18 years old;
- May serve as a rover, who cleans and assists other counselors when needed;
- Oversee the safety and behavior of club members, ensuring that they listen and follow the rules;
- Ensure disciplinary action is taken according to Boys and Girls Club guidelines when necessary;
- Communicate and coordinate with other counselors while following a set schedule;
- Help encourage club members to participate in programs and activates;
- Be a role model for club members to look up to for guidance and encouragement;
- Help organize and run programs and activities for club members to enjoy;
- Help to provide club members with a fun, safe, positive environment;
- Daily cleaning of spills, messes, program areas, and bathrooms as needed;
- Monday- Friday 2PM-6PM;
- Have fun
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or GED
- Experience in working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Ability to deal with the general public
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth
- Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment
- Mandatory CPR and First Aid Certifications
- Valid State Driver’s License
