Function : The Van Driver / Youth Development Professional-Teens plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates activities provided within the Club. The Van Driver / Youth Development Professional- Teens transports teen club members at assigned Unit over approved routes; ensures vehicle is in a safe operating condition; and ensures safety of teen members during transport, loading and unloading from van.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES : (not all-inclusive)
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
- Transports teen Club members at assigned Unit over approved routes; ensures vehicle is in a safe operating condition; and ensures safety of members during transport, loading and unloading from van.
- Drives van for the purpose of transporting teen members or participants whose names and contact information are on approved rosters over approved routes and to / from Club, school, home, events, field trips, etc. in a safe and timely manner.
- Performs routine vehicle maintenance inspections for the purpose of ensuring the safe operating condition of the vehicle and reporting mechanical defects if noted.
- Informs Club personnel, parents, etc. of practices and incidents (e.g. rules, regulations, laws, procedures, etc.) for the purpose of providing information for follow-up action and / or proper procedures.
- Maintains assigned van, both interior and exterior for the purpose of ensuring safety, appearance, and sanitation of vehicle.
- Prepares documentation (e.g. incident reports, inspections, passenger misconduct, mileage, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support and / or conveying information.
- Supervises members during transit for the purpose of maintaining safety and following Club Policy.
- Ensure engagement, promote and stimulate participation, and consistent attendance of youth enrolled in activities.
- Establish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance, role modeling to members and overall direction for their leadership development, artistic skills, physical activity engagement and academic progress.
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the club at all times.
- Engaging members in activities successfully and provide a safe environment for members.
- Support members emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts successfully.
- Plan and facilitate purposeful and engaging activities and group projects.
- Submit regular lesson plans, attendance sheets and other administrative duties.
- Participate in training and staff development activities.
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in club staff meetings.
- Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members and supervisor to receive / provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines / instructions; instruct; collaborate; and advise / counsel.
- Mandatory cleaning and closing of program area daily.
