FLSA Status : Non-Exempt (seasonal)
A lifeguard’s #1 responsibility is to ensure the safety of all Club members and staff while in the pool area by enforcing all pool rules consistently and fairly and to prevent and respond to emergencies. Lifeguards ensure proper pool water chemicals; record keeping and maintain a clean and safe pool area. Lifeguards are responsible for reporting all unsafe conditions or faulty equipment to their supervisor.
Know How :
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Knowledge of youth development principles and able to work with members ages 5-18.
- Current Lifeguard Training Certification including First Aid / CPR and AED.
- Pass physical competency consisting of the following :
Tread water for 2 minutes. Swim 250 yards without stopping using specified strokes. Swim to the bottom of a 9 foot swimming pool. Sprint 25 yards, retrieve a 10lb brick from the bottom of the pool, tread water for 2 minutes and exit the pool without using a ladder or other assistance. Perform 100 chest compressions on a manikin. Perform and pass rescue skills.

Monday-Friday
