Title: Teen Development Specialist
Department/Location: Club
Reports to: Club Director
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt
Primary Function:
Working with the Career Bound Manager, the person in this position will assist in the developing of programs for teens. Assist in the development of processes and procedures, as well as the implementation of the programs.
Key Roles (Essential Responsibilities):
- Works under the guidance and direction of the Club Director
- Responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of all teen programs in the Club
- Greets and assists the public, both in person, over the telephone and electronically
- Speaks enthusiastically to individuals and groups to build and recruit young people
- Assist in the day-to-day programmatic functions and operations of the Teen Program with the development and implementation of Teen Center vision, programming, goals and objectives
- Works with employees and volunteers. Communicates Teen Center vision goals and objectives to employees and volunteers
- Assist the Teen Development Coordinator with Teen Center programs; maintains awareness of changing needs of teen community and teen programs; makes recommendations for program changes and additions; activity records; solicits teen and other public input to gauge program effectiveness and quality
- Assist the Club Director to ensure a fully operational, safe and clean facility; maintains awareness of facility and programmatic supplies and materials needs and communicates said needs to the Club Director
- May be asked to update community groups, and the public on current Teen Center activities and issues; creates and distributes public relations materials for the media, schools and other organizations; coordinates with the schools and other teen programs; acts as the public contact for the Teen Center
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned
Skills & Knowledge Required:
- Preferably an Associate Degree in Education/Recreation or related field; High School graduate or GED and Two (2) years’ experience working with youth and community projects OR an equivalent combination of education in a related field and experience
- Ability to perform a variety of planning, administrative, and community relations work requiring exercise of independent judgment and excellent organizational skills
- Ability to foster and promote a positive teamwork environment
- Must have ability to work with a diverse population
- Must have ability to guide, direct and supervise teens
- Able to provide mature leadership, have fun, be flexible and share enthusiasm
- Excellent customer service skills, the ability to be assertive, exercise good judgment, and problem solve is necessary
- Valid Florida driver’s license with safe driving required. Must be able to meet the insurance requirements for driving.
- Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Must be service oriented and have the ability to organize, multi-task and meet deadlines
- Must have the ability to interact effectively with all age levels and cultural backgrounds
