Job Summary: Under the general supervision of the Site Director the Youth Development Professional is responsible for the development and implementation of the Formula for Impact and programs within the Five Core Program areas (Character Development & Leadership Development, Education & Career Development, The Arts, Health & Wellness, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation). Will support the Club in meeting all academic and enrichment program requirements for various initiatives and grants. Must be cooperative, friendly and create a safe and harmonious environment. Abide by and support the Club mission, to inspire and enable all young people to reach their full potential as caring, productive and responsible citizens.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
- Develop and implement programs at Butte County Juvenile Hall
- Maintain the up-keep, safety, security and appearance of the Club and various program areas at Butte County Juvenile Hall, and report supplies needed for facility and programs as needed to supervisor;
- Promote and stimulate interest in activities through quarterly bulletin board displays, monthly flyers, announcements of upcoming programs, and newsletter articles and photos;
- Coordinate and implement spontaneous recreational activities and structured programming that supports the Formula for Impact and Five Core Program areas;
- Assist with and facilitate Club programming, and special events, and working with Table Mountain School and Butte County Juvenile Hall on collaborative special events;
- Maintain all required paperwork to track programs, member participation, and grant requirements; Ensures youth are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s). Assess youth and match with programs that fit their needs, interests and strengths;
- Works with Juvenile Hall staff, Table Mountain School, Butte County Probation and parents/guardians to recognize members for good work and discuss issues that may occur at the Club;
- Provide direction for volunteers and interns in order to stimulate participation in programs.
Other Duties:
• Abide by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley and Juvenile Hall Policies & Procedures;
• Attend Board and Committee Meetings as requested;
• Attend local trainings and workshops in the field as requested;
• Attend staff meetings and other Club sponsored events as requested;
• Abide by Federal and State Laws and all applicable laws;
• Wear appropriate staff uniform while working at and/or attending Boys & Girls Clubs of the North Valley functions;
• Perform other duties as assigned by Site Director/Coordinator and Administration.

POSITION: Youth Development Counselor; Juvenile Hall
WAGE: $17.75-19.00 hr.
HOURS: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday from 1:30pm-7:00pm; Saturday from 11am-5pm-variable hours;
SUPERVISOR: Site Director
EMPLOYMENT: At-Will; Part-time, Variable Hour
BENEFITS: Statutory, 40 hours of paid sick a year, Aflac options
Requirements
- First Aid & CPR certified;
- Pass TB test;
- Pass FBI and DOJ, and overall BGCNV background checks;
- Complete and pass the Juvenile Hall criminal history and background check;
- Must complete all necessary trainings directed by Butte County Probation (PREA)
- Being approved as a driver by our Club auto insurance provider preferred;
- Two years of experience recreational programming with youth preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Require the mobility to stand, stoop, reach and bend;
- Require the mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects;
- May require to ability to stand for long periods;
- May require the ability to walk long distances;
- Required to attend evening meetings and/or travel within and out of Butte County to attend meetings; field trips
- Required to work evenings and weekends;
Salary : $18 - $19
