Responsibilities : For this part-time position at the Morrill Memorial and Harris Library in Strafford, Vermont, responsibilities include overseeing children’s programming, which involves planning and executing a weekly after school program during the school year with a craft or activity tie-in; six weeks of summer reading programming; bi-weekly or monthly outreach to the Creative Preschool; and occasional special programs.
Programs should be literacy-based, age-appropriate, and include quality children’s literature.
Other Duties : Shopping for arts and craft materials, keeping materials in order, arranging for a volunteer to help with programs, and contracting with outside performers / presenters. The position reports to the Library Director. Depending on the time of year, this position involves 3-7 hours of work per week.
Qualifications : Experience working with pre-school and elementary-aged children, knowledge of children’s literature and literacy fundamentals, and previous experience in an educational or library setting preferred.
