Boys and Girls Country serves up to 100 residents in our Residential and College and Career programs. Boys and Girls Country is located 35 miles northwest of Houston. Its website address is www.boysandgirlscountry.org.
Position Summary
When children join our family, their needs are great. Often, continued crises within their family of origin causes great stress, and all children that come to us need to work through not only past pain, but the very real anxiety a new home and new people bring. Working closely with the Houseparents and Program Team, the Counselor leads our efforts to address these issues and is an important part of a holistic approach to the health and well-being of our children. The Counselor will report to the Director of Clinical Services and will be an integral part of the Program Team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide individual, sibling, family, and group counseling sessions
- Input counseling session notes within 48 hours of session
- Create and update client Treatment Plans quarterly
- Administer Clinical Assessments as needed
- Weekly consultation with Clinical Director about clients on case load
- Consultation with Houseparents and Case Managers as necessary.
Critical Skill Sets
Significant experience working in a clinical capacity with children and families, specifically children that have experienced trauma and / or separation from family.
