Boys & Girls Aid in Portland, OR is looking to hire a Culturally Responsive Services Specialist to support youth from systematically marginalized backgrounds when they enter Shelter and Housing Service, and to create a holistically immersed environment of equity and inclusion.

To honor this goal, the CRS Specialist will steward service-guidance toward achieving and maintaining cultural awareness in policies, procedures, practices, and service delivery, and will be an active participant in the mission and service of Safe Place.

This position earns a competitive salary starting at $22-$25 per hour. Bilingual skills are required for this position and bilingual employees are eligible for an additional 8% pay differential.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE SERVICES SPECIALIST The CRS Specialist will work with Program Leadership to establish culturally appropriate services to support youth served by Safe Place and Housing Services.

  • Promote language access, identify community resources, cultivate relationships with community partners and facilitate connections for youth.
  • Research and stay current on culturally responsive best practices in crisis services for youth.
  • Help modify and implement evidence-based, culturally responsive and trauma informed ways of responding to youth served by Safe Place and work collaboratively to identify ways to engage in policy, systems, and antiracism work.
  • You will be instrumental in creating social justice change and serving youth in crisis while working with a dynamic and forward-thinking team and agency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training will be considered.
  • Bachelors' degree in social work , sociology, psychology, ethnic studies, or related field along with 1 year of combined experience of cultural competence or community-based behavior health services focused on cultural responsivity.

OR Bachelor's degree and postgraduate certificate in DEI , or Gender Race and Nations Studies. OR 5 years' experience collaborating with community resources, demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to the needs of systematically marginalized populations and demonstrated strong collaboration, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Bilingual skills are required for this work, Spanish preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a good driving record.
