Position Description:
Come join an amazing team at The Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster (BGCFL). We are seeking a dynamic Director of Development to drive our resource development efforts and support our mission to positively impact youth in North Central Massachusetts.
Primary Function: The Director of Development collaborates closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Board of Directors (BOD) to strategize and execute resource development initiatives, focusing on increasing support for BGCFL's programs and operations.
Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Resource Development:
Lead strategic planning and execution of resource development strategies, including major gifts, grants, corporate sponsorships, and fundraising events.
Research and analyze donor bases (agency, corporate, individual, foundations) to optimize solicitation strategies.
Prepare and manage corporate and foundation proposals, oversee logistics for special events, and coordinate direct mail and giving campaigns.
Board and Volunteer Engagement:
Identify, recruit, and train board members and volunteers to participate actively in resource development activities.
Financial Management:
Collaborate on the annual budgeting process, ensuring alignment of development goals with financial targets. Maintain accurate donor and financial records.
Oversite and engagement on Grant Execution, measurement with results, stewardship.
Community and Partnership Building:
Cultivate strategic alliances with community leaders, local officials, and other youth-serving organizations to expand BGCFL's outreach and impact.
Events:
Oversee and lead the fundraising event efforts of the organization.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure design and development of public relations documents for use in the promotion of fundraising, and education of the public, including press releases. Ensure the development and distribution of marketing documents.
RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintain communication with the Chief Executive Officer, Board of Directors, staff peers, and volunteers to exchange information, and provide stewardship as needed regarding activities and planned programs. Coordinate fundraising, marketing events. Provide strategic leadership on all resource development activities.
External: Maintain communication with other agencies, business leaders, community groups, boards of directors of such organizations, and the media for the purpose of exchanging information and ideas for growing The Clubs presence, awareness, and financial capability to serve more youth.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred
A minimum of three years nonprofit experience, specifically in fundraising and sales/marketing, or equivalent experience
Considerable knowledge of fundraising techniques and sources of funding for nonprofits
Knowledge of the mission, objectives, policies, programs and procedures and of the principles and practices of nonprofits, youth development services preferred
Ability to organize and coordinate fundraising operations
Strong oral and written communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, board members, volunteers, community groups and other related agencies.
Knowledge of accessing and managing donor database
