What are the responsibilities and job description for the Afterschool Teen Programming Assistant position at Boys & Girls Club of Hilton Head Island?

We’re looking for dedicated, energetic individuals to create meaningful programs, build positive relationships, and ensure a safe and enriching space for our teens. This part-time role offers flexible scheduling (3-5 days per week) and a chance to be part of a mission-driven nonprofit making a real impact.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead & engage teens in fun and educational activities across various Club spaces, including the gym, game room, art studio, STEM lab, and outdoor areas.
- Create a positive environment by fostering participation, mentoring members, and modeling leadership skills.
- Ensure safety & supervision by monitoring behavior, enforcing guidelines, and providing guidance as needed.
- Help plan events & programs that encourage learning, personal growth, and community involvement.
- Support daily Club operations, including setup, cleanup, and assisting with special events.
- Collaborate with a great team of staff, parents, and community members to provide exceptional experiences for youth.
- (Optional) Drive the Club van for member transportation (if eligible).
What We’re Looking For:
- High school diploma required (college students & graduates preferred).
- Experience working with youth in group settings (such as childcare, summer camp, or coaching) is a plus.
- Energetic, positive, and patient with a passion for mentoring and education.
- Team-oriented & proactive, able to work well with diverse populations.
- CPR & First Aid Certification (can be obtained after hiring).
- Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) a plus!

- Must pass a background check & drug screening
- Must have a valid driver’s license (if driving the Club van)
- Reliable transportation to Hilton Head Island, SC
