JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Program Services is responsible for the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of all program and membership services to ensure Club members ages 4-18 have an optimal Club experience. The Director of Program Services will oversee critical organizational infrastructure and participate in budget development and management. The Director of Program Services will maintain and develop partnerships that will enhance and deepen program opportunities and experiences for Club members. In collaboration with the Marketing and Special Events Coordinator, the Director of Program Services will ensure effective and impactful marketing of Club programs.

The Director of Program Services will directly supervise clubhouse and specialty program managers and will foster an environment that is positive, promotes collaboration, and supports the club mission, to inspire and enable all young people to reach their full potential as caring, productive responsible citizens. The Director of Program Services will be an inspiring and motivating leader, an effective communicator, action oriented, and a creative problem solver. The Director of Program Services will model the energy and enthusiasm to ensure a fun and positive environment for staff and kids.

The Director of Program Services will be a member of Executive Leadership team and will assist in the development of strategic planning, and recommendations for BGCNLT policies and procedures.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities)
Leadership
  • Provides leadership and direction to Clubhouse Managers, Specialty Program Managers, and Youth Development
  • Professionals to effectively manage fun, engaging and impactful programs for youth. Direct Reports: 5-6 Indirect Reports: 25-40 (includes seasonal positions).
  • Leads and participates in regular staff meetings.
  • Performs annual evaluations of direct reports and ensures evaluations are completed for indirect reports.
  • Frequently visits Clubhouses and school sites, monitors clubhouses and staff progress and supports as needed.
  • Ensures an environment that facilitates achievement of Youth Development Outcomes.
  • Coaches, motivates, and provides recognition for staff with an emphasis on professional development, positive work environment, and retention.
  • Develops and implements annual training and professional development calendar that supports child safety, high-quality program, and knowledge and compliance with all required internal and external policies and procedures. Includes on-site training and external opportunities such as conferences, webinars, etc.
  • Assist Clubhouse managers with ensuring safe and sanitary conditions, implementing hazard removal and prevention as needed. • Ensures administrative and operational systems are in place, overseeing the maintenance and operation of facilities, transportation, and technology. Includes use of facilities by outside groups.
  • In collaboration with Clubhouse Managers and the Director of Administration, support and ensure proper staffing by identifying staffing needs, assist in recruitment, interviewing and hiring. Strategic Planning
  • Plan, develop, implement, and coordinate an annual program plan for the organization and each Clubhouse that supports before/after school, specialty program, and family engagement needs.
  • Assigns membership and attendance goals and supports Clubhouse Managers with recruitment plans.
  • Ensures grant and funding requirements are implemented, tracked, and evaluated in collaboration with Clubhouse managers and the Director of Fund Development.
  • Ensures quality improvement of programs by administering NYOI survey at all sites, conducting program evaluations and annual written analysis of member needs and interests. Compiles monthly statistical reports reflecting activities and attendance/ participation. Ensures all programs and staff follow BGCA, State, and local child safety policies and procedures. Ensures all staff are trained in crisis management policies and procedures according to BGCA, State and local entities.
  • Conducts annual program needs assessments and makes program recommendations and adjustments accordingly Finance
  • Manages financial resources, overseeing the development of sites’ annual budgets.
  • Controls expenditures against approved annual budget; make program expenditure recommendations and budget adjustments. Partnership Development
  • Develops and maintains collaborative partnerships.
  • Develops and maintains public relations, promoting membership within the communities we serve. Relationships
  • Maintains close contact with the executive leadership team, attends leadership meetings, and reports critical information to the CEO as needed.
  • Maintains close, daily contact with program staff to interpret and explain organization mission, program objectives, discuss issues, and provides/receives information.
  • Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members’ parents, and others to assist in resolving problems and to promote club programming. Additional Responsibilities
  • May assist in the administration of programs by overseeing program operations at each location; ensure the completion of required reports in compliance with BGCNLT and other entities; and prepare required interagency reports.
  • May be asked to support and participate in fundraising events or community events after typical operating hours and occasionally on weekends • Will be required to drive Club vehicles.
