What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Program Manager position at Boys & Girls Club of Oshkosh?
Job Summary:
Supervise staff that work in a classroom setting and manage the group throughout the day to various rooms and food services. Classroom ages range from 6-12 years old. Promote the components of health, wellness and fitness. It is the responsibility of every staff member to cultivate and maintain positive donor relationships.
Summer positions officially begin for training on June 2, 2025,
All staff summer training will take place June 2-6, 2025.
Each position requires you to be at an open house.
The position runs June 2 to August 22 of 2025.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in working with children
- Knowledge of youth development
- Proven ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems
- Good communications skills both verbal and written
- Proven ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
- Be certified in CPR/First Aid – we will host a certification class.
- Valid driver’s license and good driving history. This is necessary for those that would drive a Club vehicle.
Job Responsibilities:
- Arrive for work on time and be ready to work.
- Supervise staff and participate in programs.
- Create a stimulating environment through means of creative lesson planning, bulletin boards, and field trips.
- Must be able to respond appropriately and use good judgment when dealing with children, parents, and emergencies. Complete attendance and accident forms completely as necessary and give to Program Director.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, making sure all equipment is in working order and put away at the end of the day. Wash windows, tables, and counter tops. Sweep, vacuum, and mop as needed.
- Maintain consistent rules to assure proper and appropriate discipline and group management.
- Plan and implement interesting and fun daily programs in the areas of art, gym, playground, large group, small group, and free choice time.
- Conduct all Club programs in a way that promotes sportsmanship and fair play.
- May be asked to do other duties, which benefit the organization
- Mandated child abuse reporter.
- Must understand that children will become distraught, fussy, or won’t quit crying. Staff must first attempt to determine the cause of distress, do whatever possible to soothe the child, and if needed, call the director for assistance.

Physical and Mental Requirements:
- Must be able to interact physically with children during program activities.
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to think clearly and concisely.
- Must be able to function in a loud environment with high energy interacting with multiple aged members.
- Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including outdoor activities possible trip assignment.

- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
