Position description:
Under the direction of the Facilities Manager and/or Senior Director of Finance and Operations, the Maintenance/Custodian will provide a clean and safe program environment for youth ages 5-18. Performs custodial maintenance duties, including dusting, mopping, finishing and buffing floors, vacuuming and shampooing carpets, cleaning and restocking restrooms, trash and recycling removal, and house manager duties as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to maintain a positive, compassionate, and tolerant attitude when working with children coming from varying backgrounds.
- Perform general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies, and daily trash and recyclable removal.
- Perform routine maintenance of custodial equipment and supplies.
- Responsible for the safety and security of the building.
- Communication of needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders and checking supply levels.
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Performs cleaning functions specific to areas of the facility and/or based on seasonal/project requirements, i.e. stripping and waxing floors.
- May provide vendors with access to areas for cleaning and may answer basic questions, communicating developments or issues with vendors to supervisor.
- May assist or perform snow removal activities and minor maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
- May be a point of contact to renters or staff during events/event set ups.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or proper equivalent experience (higher education preferred)
- Experience working with kids in some capacity preferred (ex. Camp counselor, volunteer, substitute teaching, coaching, service group, etc.)
- Proven experience as custodian, janitor, or similar role.
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances.
- Great attention to detail.
- Excellent physical condition and strength.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
Schedule:
- Evening shift
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
