JOB PURPOSE
The Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County (BGCSLC) takes changing the lives of youth to heart. We go above and beyond to ensure that every youth that walks through our doors has a world-class club experience that provides them with the opportunity for a GREAT FUTURE!
The primary functions of the Certified Teachers are to provide direct service to our youth club members through activities based on Academic Success, Good Character and Healthy Lifestyles. They create a safe environment through positive guidance and discipline, as well as ensure a well-rounded and enriching experience for all club members. Certified Teacher also carefully plan and implement program activities that promote fun, supportive relationships, opportunities and expectations, and recognition.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of the Teachers are, but are not limited to :
- Responsible for providing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics "STEM" curriculum.
- Responsible for providing instructions in the main core subjects including reading, English language arts, science, and mathematics.
- Ensuring all lessons and activities will be delivered and facilitated using engaging, creative, innovative, and "hands-on" techniques. The Certified Teacher will select and modify instructional materials and plans to enhance learning and motivates students to actively engage in the meaningful learning experience.
- Manage materials, equipment, and time effectively; interpret data for diagnosis and instructional planning; maintains accurate and appropriate records and files.
- Provides club members opportunities to use technology; and ensures that club member growth and achievements are continuous and appropriate for the age groups.
- Works closely with School-Based Club Director to communicate effectively with parents.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology or any other related subject is imperative. At least 3 years of experience in the field of teaching is necessary to reach this position. Some experience in not-for-profit is beneficial.

Our offices, neighborhood-based clubhouses, and school-based clubs are strategically located in areas of St. Lucie County where youth need us most. Based on the organization's needs, the flexibility to work different schedules and work in different locations in St. Lucie County is required due to changing business demands.
