TITLE: Youth Development Professional (YDP) - School Year & Summer
REPORTS TO: Unit Director
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Youth Development Professional (YDP) is a program instructor that creates lesson plans and engaging programming for Club members with the supplies & curriculum provided by the Club. Clubs engage kids in a variety of areas, including STEM, arts, athletics, outdoor activities, and healthy lifestyle promotion. Ideally someone over 18 years old, the YDP must have a positive attitude, be a dependable team player, and be able to adapt to changes quickly.

- High energy activities
- Kids with lots of questions
- Spontaneous eruptions of laughter, or crying, or both!
- MANY moments of 'I can't believe that just happened.'
- Strong leg muscles from walking thousands of steps
- Field trips with groups of kids to the lake, water parks, museums, bison range, etc.
- Messy kid friendly experiments & art projects (think elephant toothpaste and slime!)
- Training in youth development, safety and trauma informed care
- Satisfaction of knowing that you made a positive difference in the life of a child
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to work well with children and participate in activities
- Must be willing to learn about the club's mission and youth strategies
- Must be able to relate to youth
- Must pass a background check & Pre employment Drug Screen (includes marijuana)
- If asked to drive the company vehicle, must possess a valid driver's license, have a good driving record, and meet minimum age to drive the company vehicle.
- A background in teaching or working with youth is preferred
- Be a good role model for youth
- If not CPR and First Aid Certified, must obtain within the first 6 months of employment
- Availability, Monday-Friday, 2:30PM-7PM
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT: The Boys & Girls Club is a fast pace environment. You must be physically able to engage in games and activities that are children appropriate, some being outdoors. You must be able to lift 25 lbs. Physical demands may include bending, kneeling, twisting, standing, and extended use of arms and hands
