POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Future Grads Program is a college success program that equips first-generation students with the skills they need to overcome obstacles on their way to college graduation. While our program includes counseling on how to apply, complete financial aid forms and choose the right college, we also develop our students’ social and emotional skills, including how to ask for help, access resources, build support networks and maintain confidence. Future Grads supports its students to and through college graduation.

Future Grads supports its students to and through college graduation.
The College Success Manager will work throughout San Mateo County, with assignments and locations determined by caseload needs and numbers. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as the role requires traveling to different school sites and community locations to meet students where they are.
The College Success Manager will work with college students to provide the resources, support, tools and navigational skills they need to successfully complete higher education. The College Success Manager will begin their role by transitioning the current high school seniors into the post secondary cohort. Beginning in the summer, they will work with a caseload of college students at various higher education institutions to help them navigate their college education, and play a key role to ensure seamless implementation of the postsecondary Future Grads program. This program addresses the need for quality college advising in a community where few parents have historically attended college and where first-generation students are not receiving the services they need to achieve their postsecondary goals.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement Future Grads: Postsecondary Program, including program goals, activities, and events both in-person and virtually as needed.
- Assist in transitioning high school seniors unto the postsecondary portion of the Future Grads program.
- Meet 1:1 with a caseload of about ~80 college students at four-year institutions mostly at California Community Colleges, California State Universities, and Universities of California to provide college advising to assist them in continuing and completing their postsecondary education and career goals.
- Establish and hold your students accountable to action plans.
- Maintain organized student records and tracking of program activities, including logging services on Salesforce database accurately and on time.
- Develop and cultivate partnerships with colleges and other community partners to support your student caseload.
- Build and maintain collaborative relationships with Future Grads & BGCP personnel.
- Manage communication with students, families, school staff, volunteer coaches, and other partners.
- Support collaborative college success and high school programs & events.
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities including the ability to coordinate, inspire and motivate others.
- Successful implementation of postsecondary program resulting in actively engaged college students who maintain participation all year by meeting their check-ins and postsecondary workshops & events.
- Effectively collaborate with the whole Future Grads & BGCP High School teams.
- Showcase high level of communication skills, both written and oral.
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Spanish language ability strongly desired.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- 2 years working with high school and/or college aged students.
- Ability to navigate different higher education institutions including community colleges, college applications, & financial aid systems.
- Experience steering students through the financial aid & transfer application process.
- Background working in an ethnically diverse community and in meeting the needs of the groups represented.
- Strong initiative, self-starter, intrinsically motivated, problem solver, ability to work independently.
- Strong interpersonal skills and youth development experience.
- Great organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook.
- Familiarity with Canva and social media platforms such as LinkedIn and Instagram.
- Valid driver's license and driving history that would not disqualify you from insurance on BGCP's vehicles.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment:
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, bending at the waist, reaching overhead, crouching, squating, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 80% sitting, 20% walking & standing. Work environment noise level is usually moderate but can be noisy at times. All requirements are subject to reasonable accommodations.
LOCATION:
Onsite - East Palo Alto, Menlo Park, Redwood City, Daly City, South San Francisco
WORK SCHEDULE:
M-F: 11:00 am or 12:00 pm - 8:00 pm or 9:00 pm, occasional weekends
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
- Employment Status: Full-Time Hourly.
- Pay Range: $31.00 - $34.00 per hour, depending on experience (DOE).
