JOB TITLE: Program Group Leader
Positions available at both Cashiers and Highlands locations:
○ Cashiers Location, 558 Frank Allen Road, Cashiers, NC 28717
○ Highlands Location, 171 Hospital Drive, Highlands, NC 28741
STATUS: Part-time, Non-Exempt
WEEKLY HOURS: 7.5 - 22.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday (Flexible days)
Cashiers Club Hours: 2:30PM - 6:00PM
Highland Club Hours: 2:30PM - 7:00PM
COMPENSATION:
Cashiers Club: Starting Rate $15/hr
Highlands Club: Starting Rate $16/hr*
*Highlands Club has a higher starting rate to compensate for longer travel distance*
SUMMARY: Role model. Supervise, lead, teach, and explore with youth Club members (5-18yo) in activities and special programming including Triple Play (sports and fitness programs), Power Hour (homework help and tutoring), Outdoor Recreation, Visual and Performing Arts, and other group games and activities.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
1. Ensure physical and emotional safety of members at all times.
2. Create a safe and inclusive environment for youth to learn and grow.
3. Provide guidance and positive role modeling to youth.
4. Encourage program participation in a fun, enriching environment.
5. Participate in training and development opportunities.
6. Monitor individual and group behavior and implement discipline policies for members as necessary. 7. Assist in leading programs including sports activities, adventure programming, homework and tutoring help, gardening, visual and performing arts, and other duties as assigned.
8. Maintain accurate records of attendance and program participation.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Set up and strike daily programming equipment and spaces and assist in cleaning duties. ● Participate in daily problem solving, critical thinking, and adaptability.
● Operate Club Vehicle if 21 or older.
● Participate in special programs and events including sports tournaments, carnivals, festivals, off-campus trips, parades, etc.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
● High School diploma or GED required, some college.
● Experience in working with children is strongly preferred.
● Desire to motivate and provide an enriching environment for youth.
● Ability to effectively manage behavior and maintain discipline in a positive manner or the ability to learn and develop these skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
● Bilingual is a plus (BONUS PAY)
● CPR and First Aid Certifications strongly desired
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Must be in moderate physical shape (able to stand for long periods of time, walk, and occasionally run without tiring). May be required to lift up to 55 lbs. May be outside in all kinds of weather.
