Position Title: Tutor
Hours: Monday-Friday, 3 days a week for 15 hours *Position for 2024-2025 School Year *
Classification: Nonexempt, Hourly
Salary: $15 per hour
Reports to: Instructional Coordinator
Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Instructional Coordinator, the Tutor works with K5-3rd grade students at Howe or Grove Elementary who consent to be in the Future Forward Early Literacy Program, using a set lesson plan and program materials. Position is fifteen hours per week, hours are flexible.
Position Responsibilities:
- Create individualized lesson plans, following the set program format, for all assigned students.
- Tutor assigned students 3 times per week, for 30 minutes per session
- Complete all reports and documentation, as required, including bi-weekly family information log.
- Help create, utilize, and maintain a print-rich literacy environment.
- Establish and maintain a rapport with school staff and parents.
- Assist with the maintenance of a detailed binder for each SPARK participant to monitor reading progress and report on program impact.
- Provide written documentation of program implementation.
- Work with Future Forward staff to implement creative and engaging after-school literacy games/activities for program participants.
- Provide guidance and direction to Future Forward participants in the areas of academic success, healthy lifestyles, and civic and community engagement.
- Participates in programs, projects, and special events.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Experience in early literacy instruction a plus.
- Experience directly related to youth and youth programming.
- Ability to adapt teaching style, and beliefs, to coincide with those of the program.
- Enjoy working with youth in K5-3rd grades.
- Demonstrated examples of working with youth.
