As a Before and After School Youth Counselor at the Boys & Girls Club of Truckee Meadows (BGCTM), you'll have the opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of children while enjoying a fun and fulfilling school-year job. You'll work with kids on a variety of activities, including art projects, sports, fitness, and more, helping them to develop new skills, build confidence, and make new friends.

As a counselor, you'll be responsible for creating a safe and engaging environment for children, planning and leading activities, and serving as a positive role model and mentor.

- Pay starts at $14.50 an hour.
This is what your schedule could look like:
- This role is part time, with flexible scheduling to accommodate personal life or class schedules. We always aim for consistent schedules for our staff to promote work-life balance.
- Shifts are Monday - Thursday:
- 6:30 AM - 8:40 AM
- 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Friday:
- 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM
- Fernley Intermediate School
Qualifications
We have great staff that can teach you skills on the job, but there are some traits that will make you more successful as a Before and After School Youth Counselor.
- You are a fun, energetic, and excited individual
- You want to pursue a career in education and childcare such as: HDFS, CDA, Education, Counseling etc…
- You have a passion for building a better community
- You have the ability to communicate and cooperate with children, other staff and parents.
- Minimum of 17 years or older
As part of our commitment to child and member safety, there are some additional steps that all hires will be asked to complete.
- You will need to provide 3 references. These references should be professional references if you have work experience. If you don’t have work experience, these references can be any non-family member over the age of 18 who can speak to your character and professionalism.
- You will also be asked to complete a drug screen for any illegal substances, background check, and fingerprint check.
