Job Overview:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston is seeking a skilled and dedicated professional to serve as our VIP Outreach Coordinator. This role will play a critical part in building strong relationships with teens and residents in the Mattapan community.
Main Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with MTC staff, develop and implement various programming options that cater to the needs of teen members. This includes delivering leadership programs, life skills training, and workforce development initiatives.
- Create a recruitment and retention program that engages new members, particularly 14- and 15-year-olds, and encourages them to participate in club activities.
- Lead the development of the Mattapan VIP Coalition and oversee projects related to this initiative.
- Supervise and mentor members participating in programs and services within the designated area, as well as throughout the clubhouse when necessary.
- Contribute to the completion of BGCB program activity standards as determined annually.
- Arrange and facilitate monthly VIP neighborhood coalition meetings, encouraging youth participation and leadership.
- Engage with community entities, fostering partnerships that benefit the organization and its members.
- Assist in developing or updating a violence prevention plan (VPP) for the Mattapan VIP coalition, incorporating strong teen input on reducing physical disorder, community response to violence, health referrals, and increasing youth access to employment, after-school programming, and summer activities.
- Hire and supervise teens to work as Jr Block Captains/Youth Organizers.
- Manage budgets, materials, equipment, and other resources associated with the program area(s), maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Participate in individual and group supervision sessions, as well as professional development opportunities as needed.
Key Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Direct experience in providing leadership and life skills programs for teens is essential; membership/program outreach experience is also beneficial.
- Familiarity with youth development principles and strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial for success in this role.
- Proficiency in MS Office and web-based applications is preferred, along with CPR/FA certification and the ability to work with diverse backgrounds and demographics.
- Flexibility to work clubhouse hours and adapt to changing seasons and service needs is essential.
