Position Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional to join our team as a VIP Outreach Coordinator. This critical role will focus on creating and implementing effective programs for teen members, building strong relationships with the Mattapan community, and supporting the overall mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with MTC staff to design and deliver impactful programming options for teen members, including leadership development, life skills training, and workforce preparation.
- Develop a comprehensive recruitment and retention strategy to engage new members, particularly 14- and 15-year-olds, and encourage their participation in club activities.
- Oversee the development and implementation of the Mattapan VIP Coalition, ensuring successful project outcomes.
- Provide guidance and support to members participating in programs and services within the designated area, as well as throughout the clubhouse when necessary.
- Contribute to the completion of BGCB program activity standards as determined annually.
- Organize and facilitate monthly VIP neighborhood coalition meetings, promoting youth leadership and participation.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with community entities to benefit the organization and its members.
- Work with the team to develop or update a violence prevention plan (VPP) for the Mattapan VIP coalition, focusing on reducing physical disorder, community response to violence, health referrals, and increasing youth access to employment, after-school programming, and summer activities.
- Select, train, and supervise Jr Block Captains/Youth Organizers to support program goals.
- Ensure the efficient management of budgets, materials, equipment, and other resources associated with the program area(s), maintaining a clean and safe environment.
- Participate in regular supervision sessions, professional development opportunities, and team meetings as needed.
Requirements:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- Direct experience in providing leadership and life skills programs for teens is essential; membership/program outreach experience is also beneficial.
- Familiarity with youth development principles and strong interpersonal and communication skills are crucial for success in this role.
- Proficiency in MS Office and web-based applications is preferred, along with CPR/FA certification and the ability to work with diverse backgrounds and demographics.
- Flexibility to work clubhouse hours and adapt to changing seasons and service needs is essential.
