What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Science Teacher position at Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston?
Position Summary:
Major responsibility is to deliver quality and developmentally appropriate academic (Science) summer program, activities, services, and special events. Provide a safe, fun learning environment that enables campers to demonstrate core mathematic competencies at respective grade level. The goal is to give campers an understanding of how science is done, how the world around them functions, and how their bodies work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement and coordinate a Summer Learning Loss (SLL) ”program-based” literacy and science curricula to mitigate the summer achievement gap
- Provide three (3) hours of intensive direct instruction 4 days per week to Campers in grades 1 to 6.
- Create a robust effective learning environment for Campers

Position Requirements
- Massachusetts Science Licensure (1-6) highly preferred
- Minimum of 1 year of experience teaching science
- Knowledge of youth development principles.
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate flexibility.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
- Ability to work with children and youth from a variety of backgrounds.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
