What are the responsibilities and job description for the VIP Outreach Coordinator (MTC) position at Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston?
Position Summary :
Major responsibility is to lead recruitment and retention of teen members as well as oversee our Work Based Learning Program. As the VIP hub for Mattapan, this position will build with teens and residents to create a community-based violence prevention strategy, create leadership & civic engagement programming for teens and host monthly community coalition meetings.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- In conjunction with MTC staff, provide a variety of programming options reflective of the BGCB Teen Program. Individual program responsibilities include, but not limited to, delivery of leadership programs, life skills programs and workforce development.
- Develop a recruitment and retention program including outreach, orientation to new members, and a program to retain 14 and 15 year old members, retention in the Teen Center.
- Oversee the development of the Mattapan VIP Coalition and implement projects accordingly.
- Supervise and discipline of members participating in programs and services within the program area as well as throughout the clubhouse as deemed appropriate.
- Participate in the completion of BGCB program activity standards as determined each year.
- Arrange and staff the monthly VIP neighborhood coalition meetings.
- Actively seek youth to lead and participate in coalition meetings and activities.
- Assessing our impact is critical to our work. All staff is expected to participate in various evaluation efforts throughout each program year, including the annual member survey.
- Create relationship and act as a liaison with community entities.
- Aid coalition in developing or updating a violence prevention plan (VPP) for the Mattapan VIP coalition with strong teen input, including : Reducing physical disorder, community response to violence, health referrals, and increasing youth access to employment, after school programming and summer programming as outlined in the RFP.
- Hire and oversee teens to work as Jr Block Captains / Youth Organizers.
- Secure, maintain and monitor budget, materials, equipment and other resources belonging to the program area(s). Maintain a clean and safe program area(s).
- Participate in individual and group supervision sessions; participate in professional development opportunities as appropriate; participate in all planning and training meetings held by BPHC, monthly training sessions and bi-monthly VIP Workgroup meetings..
- Travel between sites and to activities as needed.
- National and international travel may be required.
