Boys & Girls Clubs Location:
Titusville- 126 Gannis S. Ave, Titusville, FL 32796
Hours:
- School Year - up to 20 hours/week during the school year between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- Summer and School Breaks - up to 35 hours/week between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
About the Role:
The Summer Youth Development Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering the personal and social development of youth within the community. This position is designed to create engaging and educational programs that promote positive youth development and empower participants to reach their full potential. The specialist will work closely with local schools, community organizations, and families to identify the needs of youth and tailor programs accordingly. By providing mentorship, guidance, and support, the specialist will help youth build essential life skills and confidence. Ultimately, the goal is to create a safe and nurturing environment where young individuals can thrive and develop into responsible, engaged citizens.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- One year minimum experience working with youth in a mentoring or educational capacity.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to plan and implement quality programs for youth.
- Valid driver license and good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate's or advanced degree preferred in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field.
- Previous experience in program development or community outreach.
- Knowledge of youth development principles and best practices.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement engaging summer programs that cater to the interests and needs of youth participants.
- Facilitate programs and activities that promote life skills, teamwork, and personal development.
- Provide mentorship and support to youth, fostering positive relationships and encouraging personal growth.
- Monitor and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure safety of members, quality in programs and appearance of the branch at all times. Prepare periodic activity reports.

Experience in program development allows the specialist to create tailored activities that resonate with participants, ensuring engagement and participation. RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
External: Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Physical requirements: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts and or technical information with others. Ability to visually monitor activities of club members. The employee is required to be able to perform CPR or first aid. The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, jump, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 10 pounds. Working environment: Normal club environment.
