The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Orange Coast (the Club) is one of the most innovative, fast-paced and premier non-profits in Orange County and we are looking for a RELATIONSHIP BUILDER to join our dynamic team. We are a highly effective, result-driven, and mission-focused organization in need of a high functioning, energetic, donor focused, organized and committed professional to fill the critical role of Director of Philanthropy.



As our newest RELATIONSHIP BUILDER, you will work in the Development Department and be responsible for key elements of building and stewarding both new and existing donor relationships, be held accountable to the highest standards, work in partnership with the Senior Director of Philanthropy & Chief Philanthropy Officer, have direct access to the CEO, and serve alongside key members of the executive and development teams. The work we do is important and we only have room on our team for a RELATIONSHIP BUILDER who is committed to our mission and willing to make the Club and our kids a high priority. Every member of our team plays a critical role to the success of our Club and as the Director of Development: Individual Giving, this RELATIONSHIP BUILDER will directly affect the fiscal strength of the organization and be responsible to grow and steward donor relations.

This RELATIONSHIP BUILDER will be responsible to build on the existing development plan to drive new donor growth in both number of new and major donors and overall value of the portfolio, steward key relationships, and enhance a donor’s personal connection to the Club and the kids we serve. The leadership team is tightly knit, high functioning, and holds each other to high standards. The CEO, and executive team, has a track record of developing high functioning leaders, mentoring professionals to grow and challenging them to get out of their comfort zone. We are looking for someone who thrives in this sort of environment under this style of leadership.

KEY ROLES:

Resource Development

1. Expand and grow the Club’s base of donors, major gifts, planned gifts and expand community relationships to grow revenue, identify and execute targeted grant writing, all while building a stronger personal relationships and connections with donors. Areas of support contain but are not limited to: individual giving, annual giving, grants, and event support.

2. A key focus will be on existing portfolio of donors $5,000-$50,000 , major donors and potential major donors, ensuring that every relationship feels connected to the Club and that their investment in our kids makes an impact. Donor stewardship and retention are key success metrics.

3. Directly responsible to acquire new relationships that expand the portfolio of individual donors, grow overall sources of revenue, and expand the overall number of donors in the portfolio.

4. Support volunteer engagement with individual, and community groups that seek access to our volunteer programs through both our fundraising committee groups and program team; to provide more mentors to our kids while strengthening ties and future financial support.

5. Seek and secure financial support and resources by leveraging:

a. Donor database, Donor Perfect, and ensuring that information is accurate, timely, and stewardship protocol is followed on schedule for the donors in your portfolio.

i. Monitor donor data to build plan and strategy for growth, moves management.

ii. Manage data base to secure accurate information is recorded, reported and maintained.

b. Supports all fundraising strategies, donor relations, and overall resource development plan.

Assist in coordinating and executing fundraising of all special events.
Communicate effectively with Senior Director of Philanthropy, Chief Philanthropy Officer, CEO, key executive staff, Board of Directors, partners, and key donors.


Additional Responsibilities

Participates in training, webinars, workshops and professional development as requested.
2. Assist in marketing and outreach of Club activities, events, and impact.

Participates in key community groups, attend key community events, and support key the Club’s events or initiatives.
Be a role model and advocate for the kids we serve.


Performance Objectives – Deliverables

1) Adopting the Culture and acclimating to the Club: Participate in on-the-job training with the Chief Philanthropy Officer

Become familiar with policies and procedures of the Club
Meet with and become familiar with the key staff, Board of Directors, and key partners
Identify key strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges with regards to Individual Giving, Major Gifts, Planned Gifts, & Community Relations in the Development Plan
Build a plan for outreach and donor acquisition in both individual and community partnerships


2) Within 45 days, deliver a giving strategy report of your research, conclusions and plans for fundraising and outreach moving forward. This report should identify and assess current and past strategies as well as plan for existing portfolio retention and new donor acquisition.



3) Within 45 days, become proficient with Donor Software & Procedures: Immediately evaluate and train in all aspects of the Donor Perfect and Stewardship plan.

Become familiar with software and participate in any necessary training.
Become proficient in generating reports and donor analytics as needed.
Leverage software to grow new donor acquisition and overall portfolio.
