Position Summary:
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus County is seeking a passionate and experienced Culinary Arts Instructor to lead youth culinary training at the Blue Door Pizza Workforce Kitchen. This role is responsible for providing hands-on instruction in food preparation, kitchen safety, nutrition, and the fundamentals of culinary arts, preparing youth for careers in the food service industry. The instructor will create an engaging and supportive learning environment, fostering skills that promote independence, responsibility, and workforce readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver engaging culinary arts lessons, covering food preparation, sanitation, nutrition, and basic cooking techniques.
- Teach students how to operate commercial kitchen equipment and follow proper food safety protocols.
- Provide mentorship and career guidance to youth interested in food service and hospitality careers.
- Collaborate with club leadership to integrate workforce development initiatives into culinary programming.
- Manage kitchen operations, inventory, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Encourage teamwork, creativity, and leadership skills through hands-on cooking activities.
- Plan and execute catering or community events showcasing students' culinary skills.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports youth development.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in culinary arts, food service, or hospitality (professional kitchen experience preferred).
- Prior teaching, mentoring, or youth development experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of kitchen safety, sanitation standards, and food handling procedures.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to engage and inspire youth in a hands-on learning environment.
- ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire).

ENVIRONMENT AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Tasks are regularly performed with moderate exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, fumes, and temperature and noise extremes.
