Job Summary:
Plans, implements, supervises and evaluates activities provided in a specific program area in a high-energy, enthusiastic manner.
Weekly Hours & Schedule:
- Part-time, 35 hours per week
- Monday through Friday 11:30am-6:30pm
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain the health and safety of all children in assigned area by assuring that members understand and follow the behavioral expectations, that the room is well lit, ventilated, clean and free from hazards, that equipment is in good condition and that members are trained in its use, that strangers are greeted at the entrance to the area and that there is an understanding of and readiness to implement emergency procedures.
- Ensure that members’ self-esteem is maintained or enhanced by use of the Youth Development Strategy.
- Provide fun, beneficial and imaginative programs in the program area within the scope of Boys & Girls Club programming.
- Attain approval of schedules for these programs and post current schedules on the walls of the area.
- Assure that bright, fun and attractive signs and posters fill the walls of the program area and are always current and are changed regularly.
- Assure that programs begin and end on time.
- Provide a culture where members respect and seek advice from staff regarding problems in or outside of the Club.
- Create an on-going message in all programs and interactions that members need to make appropriate choices about their educational, personal, physical, emotional and spiritual needs.
- Assure that members are held accountable for their behavior.
- Continually model and teach character, morals and ethics.
- Build positive relationships with parents of members.
- Act as an advocate of our members and the Club, both inside and outside the Club.
- Perform administrative tasks, such as filling out reports, forms, etc. as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED is required with BA a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a role overseeing school-aged children in a group supervision setting
- Reliable transportation, safe driving record, active driver’s license, and automobile insurance is preferred
- Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-40 pounds
- Pre-employment drug screening, background, reference and driver’s record checks are required.
