What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tobacco Control Operations Volunteer position at Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County?
Job description
Tobacco Prevention Assistant
Dear Applicant:
The California Decoy Program, alongside the Boys & Girls Clubs of Fresno County (B&GCFC), recruits volunteers from all 58 California counties to take part in undercover tobacco operations alongside with the:
California Department of Health
Office of Youth Tobacco Enforcement (OYTE)
Tobacco Enforcement Operations
Our goal is to reduce underage tobacco sales in the state of California. Those who are selected to work with OYTE investigators will attempt purchases of tobacco products at tobacco retailers under OYTE supervision to reduce the illegal sale of tobacco to minors. Transportation is provided by the investigators so you will never have to travel to Fresno or use your own vehicle.
Decoys who participate in undercover tobacco compliance checks are trained and prepared for anti -tobacco related tasks. If tobacco products are sold to a decoy, the OYTE will issue a fine to the store owner. The OYTE law enforcement agents will notify the store owner that a sale was made to a minor. The decoy is never involved or present when the fine is issued.
The California Decoy Program offers a unique opportunity for decoys to earn money, work with state law enforcement, and help stop the injustice of underage tobacco sales. We are pleased to offer all enrolled decoys a $50 sign-on bonus as well as the opportunity to earn $100-$200 on the days they work.
Thank you for your consideration of our program.
