Hours: 30 hours/week, M-F, occasional evening hours
Hourly Rate: Teacher I: Starting at $21.50/hour comprehensive benefits; Teacher II: Starting at $23.50/hour comprehensive benefits
Pay Range: Teacher I: $21.50-$22.50/hour; Teacher II $23.50-$24.00/hour
Location: One of Boys & Girls Clubs Early Childhood Program sites - placement will be reevaluated each year or during the year as needed
Job Summary: Under the supervision of a Preschool Site Supervisor and Assistant Site Supervisor, responsible for supervising a group of children, 12 months to 5 years old; planning, organizing, conducting, and evaluating the daily program activities; communicating with the parents of these children; supervises Assistant Teacher and Associate Teacher.
Prepare Youth for Success

Conducts preschool classes and activities that prepare youth for success by incorporating the mission and youth development strategy

Conducts assessments of child development, evaluates and utilizes the results for classroom planning
Health & Safety

Ensures Family Campus Preschool meets health and safety standards and ensures the safety of all members

Conducts daily Health & Safety Check and completes the Maintenance Request
-
Provides direct supervision of children and ensures to meet the required ratio at all time

Completes the Accident/Incident/Illness report and notifies the parents
-
Takes actions to prevent accidents and responds to injury and signs of illness

Ensures emergency procedures are implemented and followed

Ensures a productive work environment by working as a member of the team, contributing to team meetings and providing information to support decision making

Continuously develops own knowledge, skills and manages time and resources

Must complete 21 hours of professional growth hours annually

Conducts Parent Teacher Conferences
Resource Management

Completes the required reports, including DRDPTech, Child Progress Reports, Summary of Findings, and attendance records

Maintains proper record keeping
Supervision

Ensures to follow program schedule, polices, and procedures

Provides supervision of Assistant Teacher and Associate Teacher

Provides ongoing feedback and regular appraisal to the classroom team

Approaches classroom team with assertiveness, addresses concerns, and solves problems

Conducts Professional Learning Community and Planning meetings
-
Provides feedback to Site supervisor through yearly evaluations for Assistant Teacher and Associate teacher
Additional Responsibilities

Complies with the Federal, State and Private funding: desired results, US Department of Agriculture Child Care Food Program, andQuality Starts OC
-
Reports daily events, changes in schedule, feeding times, food amounts, child’s health and sleeping habits so that continuity of care is maintained

Attends meetings and trainings as necessary

Performs all other duties as assigned

Works to support all BGCGG early learning programs as needed
Communication

Maintains close, daily contact with staff, members and supervisors to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines and instructions and advise and counsel

Maintains contact as needed with external community groups, members and their families, BGCGG partners and others to promote and ensure the Family Campus Preschool is successful
Qualifications
Qualifications
-
Teacher I: Associate’s degree in ECE or CD and Child Development Teacher Permit
-
Teacher II: Bachelor’s degree in ECE or CD and Child Development Site Supervisor Permit
-
-
1 year preschool teaching experience
-
Experience with Title 22
-
Experience with Title V, Child Care Food Program preferred
-
Bilingual capabilities preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean)
-
Must maintain valid CPR certification throughout employment through BGCGG CPR Program or through another acceptable CPR certification agency

Requirements

Position may require standing/sitting for extended periods of time, walking, jumping, twisting of neck – side to side, rotation, flexion of neck- looking down, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate office equipment, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally, bending at the waist; seeing to review and analyze reports, documents or other reports; hearing and speaking to communicate and provide information to others; speaking to be heard before groups of people; weight bearing activities – position may require to lift, carry, pull or otherwise move objects between 10-40 pounds.
