Camp O'Malley/Boys & Girls Clubs of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth is looking for a food services assistant to assist the Kitchen Services Director in serving daily meals to our youth this summer. Kitchen/meal preparation experience a plus!

Job Hours: Monday-Thursday 9am-3pm
Pay: $15.00
All candidates must be able to successfully complete all criminal/reference background checks.
Primary Function:
Assist in the preparation, packaging and delivery of meals and snacks to our three Club and Camp O'Malley.
Key Roles:
- Ensure that all food served is of high quality and meets Club Standards
- Support meal preparation and serving
- Stock food and beverage items as needed
- Maintain cleanliness of the dining area and kitchen
- Dish washing, trash removal, and cleaning of equipment and floors
- Follow health and safety protocols
- Perform other duties as assigned by the management team
- Ensure a productive work environment by participating in evaluations annually
- Transport food from Camp O'Malley to the three Clubs in a Club vehicle
Additional Responsibilities
- Ability to travel between Club locations as necessary to provide program assistance
- Provide guidance to Club/Camp members and serve as a role model
- Assist in daily building clean up: overall facility housekeeping, program area, restrooms, kitchen and entry ways
- Participate in Organizational meetings and quarterly trainings which may include occasional weekends
- Participate in special programs and /or events as necessary for programming needs. This may include occasional weekends
- May be required to drive an organizational vehicle
- Other duties as assigned
Skills Knowledge Required
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- A minimum of 1 year experience cooking in a commercial setting.
- Must have current Serve Safe credential or become certified within 1 month of hire.
- Serve Safe Food Allergy certified or become certified upon hire.
- Must have the ability to work with or without direct supervision, follow direction, high attention to detail and be dependable.
- Must be able to stand, lift a minimum of 50lbs, and work in a hot or cold environment.
- Knowledge of food allergies, working with young adults, serving children, and a positive attitude,
- Work with staff to ensure nutritional guidelines are consistently met.
- Experience purchasing food and non – food items, inventory control.
- Valid State ID

The noise level in the work environment can range from quiet to moderate in office setting to moderate and usually loud in recreation and play settings when children are present.
All employees working directly with children at all Boys & Girls Club of Grand Rapids Youth Commonwealth locations may be required to work outdoors in various types of weather conditions.
